The mission of The Contemporary Art Center of Peoria(CAC) is to advance contemporary art by educating culturally diverse students of all ages, providing diverse exhibitions for viewers and artists, and enriching the community through innovative cultural events. Founded in 1994 by artist/musician Preston Jackson and collaborators seeking studio space, CAC began as the Checkered Raven Galleries and Studios in renovated warehouse buildings along Peoria's riverfront. Recognizing the need for broader support, CAC was established as a nonprofit in 1995. Achieving 501(c)(3) status in 1997 enhancing its impact through acclaimed exhibits and community engagement.
